Fine Art Landscape And Astrophotography

Don Nielsen came to photography later in life. Confined to home during the pandemic, he rediscovered photography, one of his boyhood hobbies. After many varied and diverse life experiences, (from missionary in Brazil in the late ‘70’s, to Pan Am flight attendant in the ‘80’s, where he discovered his passion for social and economic justice as a union activist, going to law school on his days off from flying to become a labor attorney, ultimately working many years for the nurses union), he decided to return to taking pictures, beginning with the lovely landscapes of California’s central Sierra Nevada mountains, then urban photography and branching out eventually into astrophotography. He hopes to suggest through his work that we are all connected, that, as Maya Angelou said, “We are more alike than we are unalike” and that there truly is “beauty all around.”
